My name is Germaine Zijlstra, and I’m an trainee at Damaris Hair & Beauty Studio, where I continue to develop my skills in the hairstyling profession. I’m currently studying the Hairstylist (Ladies) program at Zadkine College Benthemplein. Since gaining practical experience is essential, I searched online for the best salon to learn and grow — and that’s how I found Damaris Hair & Beauty Studio, a place where quality, creativity, and diversity come together.

What I love most about hairstyling is the trust clients give you. When someone walks in and says, “Do something beautiful,” I feel completely in my element — transforming their hair and boosting their confidence. My mother, sister, aunt, colleagues, and clients inspire me every day through their encouragement, compliments, and feedback.

During my internship, I aim to strengthen my skills in weaving, cutting, coloring, installing extensions, and braiding. My goal is to create beautiful hairstyles for all hair types, while continuously improving my craft. I want every client to feel comfortable and welcome in my chair — my hospitality and attention to detail always make sure of that.

A fun fact about me: I’m a perfectionist. It might slow me down sometimes, but I believe every detail matters. My favorite hairstyles are ponytails, cornrows, bobs, weaves, half-up half-down looks, and blowouts.

Ultimately, I want to become an all-round hairstylist who excludes no one — someone capable of working with every hair type, every style, and every person, always with passion and care.
